Photo editing for iPhone

Match your photo colors to a reference image

Use a photo whose colors you love as a starting point for your own edit. Retouchr AI Color Match brings reference-based color editing to iPhone, with an editor for refining the result.

Watch the workflow in the Retouchr app. Results depend on your photo and settings.

How to get started

  1. Choose the photo to edit

Start with a well-exposed image. A reference can guide the color treatment, but it cannot recover every detail lost to clipped highlights or deep shadows.

  2. Choose a color reference

Look for a photo with the palette and mood you want. Similar lighting and subject matter make it easier to judge the match.

  3. Review and refine

Compare the original and result. Use the editor’s curves and HSL controls to refine brightness, individual colors, and skin tones before saving.

Ideas for your next edit

  • Travel: try a reference with similar weather and time of day before matching a whole trip’s mood.
  • Portraits: check skin tones separately from the background; a strong reference palette may need a gentler final adjustment.
  • Street photography: compare shadow detail as well as color, especially when working toward a night or film-inspired look.

Questions, access, and limitations

Is color matching the same as applying a preset?
A preset applies a saved set of adjustments. Reference-based matching uses a selected image to guide the color and mood of your edit. Results vary with the source photo and reference.
Will it make two photos identical?
Different lighting, exposure, and subjects affect the result. Treat the match as a starting point and review important colors before exporting.
Is AI Color Match free?
Check the current access and any credit requirements shown in the app before running an AI edit. Downloading the app does not imply unlimited free AI processing.
